New Stencil Available: Garbo

A new stencil is now available in the Just A Trace store (and the Just A Trace Etsy shop)! The first of the new Art Deco designs that will be released over the next few months, Garbo is perfect for this series’ debut.

As classy and glamorous as its namesake, this pattern is a throwback to the decorative geometrics of the 1940s. ©2011 Libby Unwin.

Houndstooth, Houndstooth EVERYWHERE!

I am in LOVE. Houndstooth is all the rage right now. I keep seeing it and I swoon every time. Rich with historical significance, houndstooth is still leaving its mark on fashion, decor, and even sports. Iconic, simple, intricate, and varied, this pattern is both glamorous and cozy.

From last week’s episode of Glee:

[I apologize, but due to an internal server hiccup, these images cannot appear. But believe me, they were awesome. Sigh.]

I almost jumped out of my chair. When Kurt’s not busy singing, he’s making fashion statements, even with his school supplies. I love the updated Rachel — first season’s mousey little girl is now sporting an adorable Kate Spade houndstooth dress. LOVE.

Here’s a book Apartment Therapy recommended in their Gift Guide For Your Favorite DIY-er:

And how about this little number I spotted in the mall the other day? If I could wear orange, I’d be all over this jacket. Rather, it would be all over me…

Given that I believe this is a thing now, I’m not surprised that our houndstooth stencil, Baskerville, has been a hot seller, in both little and large sizes.

It would be easy-peasy to recreate Kurt’s notebook with the small stencil. I also have visions of a warm, but modern, room with a wall in our huge Baskerville pattern. Oh it makes me want to pop corn and drink cocoa, and then dress up and go shopping downtown. Oh houndstooth!
